The 2015 CrossFit Open - A Guide, Friday Night Lights and The Sunday Slam!

So its 16 days away!! 16 days to get registered for the Open and get ready to throwdown with almost everyone in our fitness community around the world for 5 weeks!

We have got some really exciting things planned for the Open this year everyone, and this is how it will run:

Every Friday starting Feb 27th through March 27th we will run Friday Night Lights! From 4pm until 8pm we will run heats of the Open WoD released for that week. This will be an in-house, wod celebration with music, announcing, judging, designated warm up areas, strategy sessions, and coaching so you can get the MOST out of the Open this year in a fun, high-energy environment! You Do Not Want To Miss This!! So you somehow missed Friday? Didn't do as well as you wanted - The Sunday Slam! is here for you. Every Sunday we will have Open validations to run retests and to accomodate schedules. You may also schedule a time with a judge, coach, or trainer is willing to judge for you any time between Thursday after the wod release and Monday at 7:30pm

Every Friday we will run the Open release wod as the programming for that day:

  • February 27th - Open WoD 15.1

  • March 6th - Open WoD 15.2

  • March 13th - Open WoD 15.3

  • March 20th - Open WoD 15.4

  • March 27th - Open WoD 15.5

How does all this work? You may ask, especially if its your first time doing the Open - well here it is in a nutshell:

1.Get Registered for the Open. Its easy, its fun, and its the first step in taking part in all of this - you're gonna do the workouts anyway, with your friends at the gym, be able to see how far you've come even if you just started 2 months ago, and its a great way to overcome your deficiencies in a short span of time through dedicated effort. It will drive you!! Here is where you register and make your profile:

  2. Make your profile, pay your $20 and get ready for go time!!

  3. Make sure you choose your Affiliate, or home gym: CrossFit Tier 1

  4. Make sure you join your Team: CROSSFIT TIER 1

  5. After you do that, you are ready to roll!

2.Read the Rulebook if you want more info, its a great resource and if you are a stickler for the rules or need ALL the info - its a great place to get it. Here it is:

3.Get your friends and fellow athletes excited about it! Its always fun to come in and WoD with your very best buddies and this is no exception.
4.Get certified as a JUDGE!! This is a GREAT way to learn about the movement standards, the way the Open operates and to qualify as a judge at REGIONALS!! Yes, you can volunteer to judge at Regionals and also at the Games! You will be given the opportunity to take the judges course after you register as an athlete.
5.Every THURSDAY during the Open, the WOD For that week will be released. You have from then until Monday evening to submit your score. Remember every Friday Night we will be running the WoDs Under the Lights together! And all Classes Friday's will run the Open wod for the week.
1.You must have a judge, submit your score online on your profile by logging into your CrossFit Games profile, submitting your score, and then the score will be validated by your affiliate (Us) according to your signed scorecared submission.
2.You may try the workout again if you didn't do as well as you would have liked the first time, and we will have scheduled Second tries on Sundays. You simply re-submit your new score, if its better than your last one, and it will replace it.
3.If you are an Individual competitor who thinks they may finish in the top 50 - bring your own video setup, and procure your own judge to make sure you get all your requirements done. This is only an issue if you expect to finish in the very top of the Open division - does not apply to Masters, Scaled or Teen competitors.
6. IF YOU FORGET TO SUBMIT - you are no longer eligible. You HAVE TO SUBMIT YOUR SCORE!! We will remind you, don't worry, but submission is important! Get it done immediately after the workout is finished!
