Hello everyone, and welcome to CrossFit Tier 1. My career as a trainer, and later a coach, began almost 20 years ago in kickboxing, boxing and the then burgeoning sport of mixed martial arts. I began my career as an athlete well before that - I played high school football, track, baseball and soccer along with pursuing club level football and soccer in college. True strength sports came later for me - kettlebells first almost 10 years ago, and then weightlifting, powerlifting and GPP style conditioning programs of all sorts. I found CrossFit in 2009, and since then, there has been no turning back. I became a Level 1 Coach in 2009 and we opened our box soon after, showcasing almost 4 decades of training and coaching experience between myself and CFT1's co-owner Neal Woolard.

We strive to provide the most balanced, professional, and inclusive program of CrossFit and Athletic performance coaching available while maintaining a fun and motivating atmosphere that is family friendly. We cater to athletes of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels. We are, as I often like to put it, as hardcore as you want to be. Our community of competitive and elite level athletes is one of the best in the region, and this is a great asset to our member athletes at large.

As a coach, my clients and athletes range from novice to professional, developmental to elite. My focus is on technique, mental toughness, and providing confidence in each individual's own athletic potential. I have coached regional level CrossFit competitors, both individual and team, since 2010. I am still a high level CrossFit competitor, and my unique perspective as an older CF athlete, coach, father and program director allows me to give our member athletes inclusive and dynamic program design as well as functional, effective coaching. I look forward to seeing you all at the box!

My name is Skyler woolard. I am an certified personal trainer at Crossfit Tier1, and I help run the Barbell portion of our great gym. I came to Greenville to attend Pitt Community College as well as East Carolina. While attending college and being taught "the right way" to train I found my self missing what I had found during highschool. Growing up I was a chubby kid who hated anything exercise related. Luckily for me my parents got me into barbell training, not only did iIlose weight but I gained a ton of self respect and started excelling at sports I originally hated. I went through the motions of college and "globo" gym style of work, until one day I had enough and sought out a place I could train myself and more importantly my clients the way I knew was best.

That is when I sought out Neal and Brandon here at Tier1, they welcomed me and my clients like family and I have never been more pleased with a business choice or really life choice than when I decided to train at the best gym in eastern North Carolina.

I am an Elite level Powerlifter, my total is 1610lbs w/ knee wraps at 242lbs. Best lifts at a meet are 615 squat, 385 bench, 610 deadlift. I compete in 100% Raw and SPF federations.

I use the main four barbell movements to help my clients reach their goals, whether those goals be weight loss, endurance, athletic performance or just becoming a better version
ones self.

Britt Theurer is a musician, recently retired from East Carolina University where he was Professor of Trumpet and Chair of Theory, Composition, and Musicology. He still loves to compose, but has for two years been consumed by a passion for CrossFit!!

I began CrossFitting in 2010 after the birth of my second daughter. I played high school softball and college rugby, and after years of being a gym rat, I found my calling as a CrossFit athlete. I enjoy all aspects of the sport - weightlifting, gymnastics, and ...well, not rowing... I believe in the benefits that it has brought to me and my family - it's amazing to see my two daughters embracing an active lifestyle. I believe that whiners are wieners. I am a bad mamma-jamma; if you don't know, you betta' ask somebody. Keep it classy Greenville.

My name is Beth Petersen and I am a CrossFit Level 1 Coach at Tier 1. Our family moved to Greenville, the beginning of 2016, because of the opportunity my husband was offered to become the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach for ECU Football. From the moment we moved here it has felt like home – everyone we have met has been so welcoming and I can’t express how incredibly lucky I am to have walked through the doors at Tier 1. The friends I have made are priceless!!!

I have been a lifelong athlete, competitor and overall fitness fanatic. I started CrossFit in 2012, in West Virginia, where I convinced my friend into going with me after watching the CrossFit Games. I loved it and was hooked from the moment I finished that first excruciating WOD of 7 minutes of target burpees! CrossFit has not only taken me to the next level of fitness, finishing the Open in the top 200 in the world to be able to compete in the 2014-2016 CrossFit Southeast Regional Qualifiers and the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Regional Qualifer. but has also offered me friendships, encouragement and camaraderie. I believe CrossFit has helped me to push out of my comfort zones and found that it acceptable to be a woman that likes to lift weights and have muscles. Each day is truly a new adventure and I get so excited to know I can do things I never thought I would be able to do at my age; ring muscle ups, strict handstand pushups, backsquat, snatch, butterfly chest to bar pull ups…. I proudly embrace the slogan “Strong is the new Skinny” and hope to be a good role model for all other CrossFit athletes regardless of age and ability. As a coach, my goal is to connect with everyone I train in a way that motivates and excites them to always improve and perform at their highest level.
